We have compiled a list of time-saving, money-saving ideas to follow which will enable you to be prepared, so that your move will go as quickly and efficiently as possible. Please review the following information which will make the job go more smoothly for us and cheaper for you.

• Small-medium dressers can be left full of clothes only ; no books, jewelry, or papers, etc. Triple dressers and armoires must be completely emptied.
  
• Anything that can go in a box should go in a box.
  
• Precious goods should be transported by the customer:
  
• Even though you have probably insured most of your items, you should still personally transport the belongings most precious to you such as personal documents, financial information, money, jewelry, and other sentimental items.
  
• Please keep all passageways free of ice, snow, and debris. All doorways, hallways, walls, and stairs free and clear of any and all sharp objects which may cause damage to furniture, household goods, and/or movers during the moving process.
  
• Remember: the heavier the item, the smaller the box.
  
• Always stack dishes upward when packing.
  
• Never use printed newsprint to wrap fine china.
  
• Clearly label all boxes on top and side.
  
• Pack a box of essential items that you will need immediately after the move and make sure it’s the last thing added to the truck.
  
• For large appliances be sure to check your owner’s manuals to see if there are special instructions for moving.
  
• As you take apart furniture and other items make sure to tape all parts to the main base.
  
• Use only small boxes for books, canned goods, photo albums, etc. They get very heavy, very fast and the bottom of the box could give out.
  
• Use wardrobe boxes to make closets easier to pack and move. They hang about 2ft. of clothing.
  
• Start packing items you will not need ahead of time.
  
• By law, a moving company cannot transport hazardous materials such as paint thinner, gasoline, bottled gases and other flammables, ammunition and explosives. Also, any machinery containing flammable substances, such as lawnmowers and motorcycles, must be emptied and aired out prior to your move.
  
• We do not move guns.
  
• Avoid mixing items from different rooms in the same box.
  
• Always pack and unpack breakables over a padded surface.
  
• Always tape boxes, don’t interlock the tops.
  
• Make your reservations for movers two to four weeks before your day.
  
• Clean out closets, the attic, and the basement as soon as you decide it’s time to move.
  
• The day before your move, defrost the fridge.
  
• Make sure to get enough cash to get you through the move day.
  
• Don’t use boxes without tops. No tops make it impossible to stack properly on our two wheel dollies and in the truck.
  
• Make sure convenient parking space is available for moving trucks.
  
• If our moving trucks cannot park on your driveway please let us know ahead of time.
  
• Make sure your box count is as close to the exact amount as possible when getting an estimate.
  
• Make sure your moving companies’ office has a telephone number to contact you at before and during the move.
  
• Anything that will not fit into a box or is not a piece of furniture is considered miscellaneous and will be counted as one piece. If you decide to move any items yourself before your moving date to save money, this is the category to move.
  
• Example: Lamps, pictures, rugs, ironing board, vacuum, bicycles, lawn mowers, shovel, etc.
  
• Example: Rakes, shovels, brooms, etc. can be placed into a trash can or wrapped with tape and would be considered as one piece.
  
• Make a final walk-through at each stop after your things are loaded and unloaded at your starting location as well as your new location to insure that no items have been left behind. The movers will probably ask you to walk through and check, but if they do not, you should do so.
